Phyliss J. Anderson newly elected Chief of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and the first female to assume role. Phyliss J. Anderson succeeded incumbent Miko Beasley Denson after election committee concluded ballot count on Wednesday July 6, 2011.[1] Challenger Anderson polled 1,971 votes as to defeated Beasley Denson whom polled 1,618.[2] Phyliss Anderson is to be sworn in as Chief on Tuesday July 12, 2011.[3] Once Phyliss J. Anderson assumes role she will be the fourth elected tribal chief of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians subsequent to the tribal government's re-establishment of 1945.
